The Indian rupee gained ground against the U.S. dollar in late morning deals on Wednesday, as regional shares rose.
The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex is currently up 60 points or 0.22 percent at 27,464, while the broader CNX Nifty index is up 25 points or 0.3 percent at 8,273.
The rupee hit a 9-day high of 63.19 against the greenback, up from yesterday's closing value of 63.295. The next possible resistance for the rupee is seen around the 62.00 mark.
