The unemployment rate in Japan came in at a seasonally adjusted 3.4 percent on year in March, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications said on Friday.
That beat forecasts for 3.5 percent, which would have been unchanged from the February reading.
The job-to-applicant ratio was 1.1 – slightly below expectations for 1.15, which also would have been unchanged.
The labor force participation rate was 59.1 percent, matching forecasts and steady from the previous month.
