The BOK last week announced that it would lower its inflation target in 2015, mostly due to falling oil prices. The central bank hoped that the domestic economy would maintain a modest recovery trend despite increased financial market volatility, adding that monetary policy will remain loose next year. Although the government has implemented various stimulus measures, market participants continue to expect an additional rate cut. This should limit the KRW's gains against the USD in 2015.
