Business confidence in New Zealand tumbled in December, the latest survey from ANZ Bank revealed on Friday.
The business confidence index fell to 30.4 from 31.5 in November.
Business confidence is still elevated, despite dipping a tad in December, ANZ said in a statement accompanying the data.
The activity outlook also declined, as the index slid to 37.3 in December from 41.7 in the previous month.
«New Zealand is the two-bit player at the international poker table, albeit with some cards up our sleeve in the form of the still-high NZD, policy rates far from zero, and plenty of leeway on the fiscal front, » ANZ said.
«It wouldn't be a comfortable journey, but New Zealand is well placed to ride out any storms that may arise, «
